Article 1: Name
The name of this association will be:
the Mediterranean and Middle East Action
Group for Adolescent Medicine (M.A.G.A.M.) .
The association was founded in Ferrara, Italy, on September 8 th 2001, and
Constitution was approved in Istanbul, Turkey, on June 25th 2004, by the
original members of M.A.G.A.M.

Article 2: Mission
To diffuse the theory, practice, and research in Adolescent Medicine in the
Mediterranean and Middle East region, with the general goal of improving the
health and well being of adolescents, according to the World Health
Organisation's recommendations

Article 3: Membership
The regular Members of the Group will be appointed by the Council from the
Mediterranean and Middle East countries among health professionals who have
demonstrated involvement in adolescent medicine and who will continue to be
active in this field.
The honorary Members will be any person who has contributed substantially to
adolescent health and/or to MAGAM activities. Honorary members will be
appointed without geographical restriction.

Article 4: General Assembly
The General Assembly is composed of endorsed representatives for each country.
Each country will have one vote regardless of the number of its regular members.
Original Members, independently of their current country of residence, will be
able to vote and to be elected. Honorary Members can be heard but have no
vote and cannot be elected.
The functions of the General Assembly are:
• To elect the Coordinator of M.A.G.A.M
• To elect the Vice-coordinator of M.A.G.A.M.
• To elect the Secretary of M.A.G.A.M.
• To decide on the admission of new Members of M.A.G.A.M.
• To lay down policies of M.A.G.A.M. in accordance with the MAGAM mission.
The General Assembly is convened by the Coordinator at least once every two years. Convocation will be done in writing or e-mail not less than three months before the date of the General Assembly, calculated from the day of dispatch.
The Secretary is responsible for writing the minutes of the General Assembly.

Article 5: M.A.G.A.M. Council
The council will consist of 3 elected members reflecting the diversity of the Mediterranean and Middle East countries. It will consist of:
the Coordinator of M.A.G.A.M.
the Vice-coordinator
the Secretary
The Co-ordinator will carry out the policies that are laid down by the General Assembly. The Co-ordinator chairs the General Assembly and the Committees of the M.A.G.A.M.. In case of his/her absence, the Vice-coordinator will act on his behalf.
The Secretary will be in charge of the internal affairs of M.A.G.A.M.
The Coordinator may, for a special purpose or in general, delegate to each member of the Council matters to be handled by him/her as the representative of the Coordinator or the Council.
All Members of the Council will serve for 2 years. The Coordinator, the Vice-coordinator and the Secretary will be eligible for re-election for a second period of 2 years only, and thereafter will be ineligible to occupy the same post for the next 2 years.
Candidates to become Coordinator, Vice-coordinator or Secretary may be proposed in writing, and handed to the Secretary at least one hour prior to the scheduled time of the General Assembly Meeting.
Candidates for each post in the Council may be proposed by any Mediterranean or Middle East country. Voting will be by secret ballot at the General Assembly.
The quorum for voting in the General Assembly will be one third of its members. In the event that the vote is tied, the Coordinator will cast the deciding vote.

Article 6: Amendment of the Constitution
Proposals for changing the constitution will be sent to the Secretary, signed by representatives of at least three countries not later than two months prior to the next ordinary General Assembly meeting of M.A.G.A.M.
In the event of an amendment in the Constitution, half of the members need to be present in the General Assembly. A two-third majority of representatives attending the General Assembly is required for amending the Constitution.

Article 7: Meeting
The language of the annual meeting will be English. The M.A.G.A.M. day scientific program can be proposed by any M.A.G.A.M. member but needs to be approved by the Council.
