The Fifth MAGAM Day took place on October 9, 2005, in Catanzaro, Italy, in conjunction with the Joint Meeting on Adolescent Medicine and Thalassemia in the Centre of the Mediterranean Area. The Day was especially productive, enjoyable, and well-attended. The morning session included election of the following MAGAM officers:

Coordinator – Vincenzo De Sanctis (Ferrara, Italy)
Vice-Coordinator – Daniel Hardoff (Haifa, Israel)
Secretary – Bernadette Fiscina (New York, USA)

In the afternoon, MAGAM members took part in a workshop conducted by Dr. Kenneth Ginsburg of the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia on The Teen Centered Method of designing services for adolescents. MAGAM hopes to use this experience as a basis for a multi-national collaborative project among its members.

Our host in Catanzaro was Dr. Giuseppe Raiola, President of the Joint Meeting, and now the newly-elected President of SIMA (Societa' Italiana di Medicina dell' Adolescenza). On behalf of all the MAGAM members who attended, I want to thank Dr. Raiola for his outstanding generosity and hospitality, and wish him the best in his new position.
